Then Bildad the Shuhite answered, | 1Then Bildad the Shuhite replied: |
"Dominion and awe belong to Him Who establishes peace in His heights. | 2"Dominion and awe belong to God; he establishes order in the heights of heaven. |
"Is there any number to His troops? And upon whom does His light not rise? | 3Can his forces be numbered? On whom does his light not rise? |
"How then can a man be just with God? Or how can he be clean who is born of woman? | 4How then can a mortal be righteous before God? How can one born of woman be pure? |
"If even the moon has no brightness And the stars are not pure in His sight, | 5If even the moon is not bright and the stars are not pure in his eyes, |
How much less man, that maggot, And the son of man, that worm!" | 6how much less a mortal, who is but a maggot-- a human being, who is only a worm!" |
