New American Standard Bible 1995 | English Standard Version |
For the choir director; set to Al-tashheth. A Mikhtam of David, when he fled from Saul in the cave. Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me, For my soul takes refuge in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge Until destruction passes by. | 1Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, till the storms of destruction pass by. |
I will cry to God Most High, To God who accomplishes all things for me. | 2I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me. |
He will send from heaven and save me; He reproaches him who tramples upon me. Selah. God will send forth His lovingkindness and His truth. | 3He will send from heaven and save me; he will put to shame him who tramples on me. Selah God will send out his steadfast love and his faithfulness! |
My soul is among lions; I must lie among those who breathe forth fire, Even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows And their tongue a sharp sword. | 4My soul is in the midst of lions; I lie down amid fiery beasts— the children of man, whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords. |
Be exalted above the heavens, O God; Let Your glory be above all the earth. | 5Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth! |
They have prepared a net for my steps; My soul is bowed down; They dug a pit before me; They themselves have fallen into the midst of it. Selah. | 6They set a net for my steps; my soul was bowed down. They dug a pit in my way, but they have fallen into it themselves. Selah |
My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises! | 7My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast! I will sing and make melody! |
Awake, my glory! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. | 8Awake, my glory! Awake, O harp and lyre! I will awake the dawn! |
I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to You among the nations. | 9I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. |
For Your lovingkindness is great to the heavens And Your truth to the clouds. | 10For your steadfast love is great to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. |
Be exalted above the heavens, O God; Let Your glory be above all the earth. | 11Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth! |
