Again, the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, | 1The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, |
"Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, 'When a man makes a difficult vow, he shall be valued according to your valuation of persons belonging to the LORD. | 2“Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, If anyone makes a special vow to the LORD involving the valuation of persons, |
'If your valuation is of the male from twenty years even to sixty years old, then your valuation shall be fifty shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary. | 3then the valuation of a male from twenty years old up to sixty years old shall be fifty shekels of silver, according to the shekel of the sanctuary. |
'Or if it is a female, then your valuation shall be thirty shekels. | 4If the person is a female, the valuation shall be thirty shekels. |
'If it be from five years even to twenty years old then your valuation for the male shall be twenty shekels and for the female ten shekels. | 5If the person is from five years old up to twenty years old, the valuation shall be for a male twenty shekels, and for a female ten shekels. |
But if they are from a month even up to five years old, then your valuation shall be five shekels of silver for the male, and for the female your valuation shall be three shekels of silver. | 6If the person is from a month old up to five years old, the valuation shall be for a male five shekels of silver, and for a female the valuation shall be three shekels of silver. |
If they are from sixty years old and upward, if it is a male, then your valuation shall be fifteen shekels, and for the female ten shekels. | 7And if the person is sixty years old or over, then the valuation for a male shall be fifteen shekels, and for a female ten shekels. |
'But if he is poorer than your valuation, then he shall be placed before the priest and the priest shall value him; according to the means of the one who vowed, the priest shall value him. | 8And if someone is too poor to pay the valuation, then he shall be made to stand before the priest, and the priest shall value him; the priest shall value him according to what the vower can afford. |
'Now if it is an animal of the kind which men can present as an offering to the LORD, any such that one gives to the LORD shall be holy. | 9“If the vow is an animal that may be offered as an offering to the LORD, all of it that he gives to the LORD is holy. |
'He shall not replace it or exchange it, a good for a bad, or a bad for a good; or if he does exchange animal for animal, then both it and its substitute shall become holy. | 10He shall not exchange it or make a substitute for it, good for bad, or bad for good; and if he does in fact substitute one animal for another, then both it and the substitute shall be holy. |
'If, however, it is any unclean animal of the kind which men do not present as an offering to the LORD, then he shall place the animal before the priest. | 11And if it is any unclean animal that may not be offered as an offering to the LORD, then he shall stand the animal before the priest, |
'The priest shall value it as either good or bad; as you, the priest, value it, so it shall be. | 12and the priest shall value it as either good or bad; as the priest values it, so it shall be. |
But if he should ever wish to redeem it, then he shall add one-fifth of it to your valuation. | 13But if he wishes to redeem it, he shall add a fifth to the valuation. |
'Now if a man consecrates his house as holy to the LORD, then the priest shall value it as either good or bad; as the priest values it, so it shall stand. | 14“When a man dedicates his house as a holy gift to the LORD, the priest shall value it as either good or bad; as the priest values it, so it shall stand. |
Yet if the one who consecrates it should wish to redeem his house, then he shall add one-fifth of your valuation price to it, so that it may be his. | 15And if the donor wishes to redeem his house, he shall add a fifth to the valuation price, and it shall be his. |
'Again, if a man consecrates to the LORD part of the fields of his own property, then your valuation shall be proportionate to the seed needed for it: a homer of barley seed at fifty shekels of silver. | 16“If a man dedicates to the LORD part of the land that is his possession, then the valuation shall be in proportion to its seed. A homer of barley seed shall be valued at fifty shekels of silver. |
'If he consecrates his field as of the year of jubilee, according to your valuation it shall stand. | 17If he dedicates his field from the year of jubilee, the valuation shall stand, |
'If he consecrates his field after the jubilee, however, then the priest shall calculate the price for him proportionate to the years that are left until the year of jubilee; and it shall be deducted from your valuation. | 18but if he dedicates his field after the jubilee, then the priest shall calculate the price according to the years that remain until the year of jubilee, and a deduction shall be made from the valuation. |
'If the one who consecrates it should ever wish to redeem the field, then he shall add one-fifth of your valuation price to it, so that it may pass to him. | 19And if he who dedicates the field wishes to redeem it, then he shall add a fifth to its valuation price, and it shall remain his. |
'Yet if he will not redeem the field, but has sold the field to another man, it may no longer be redeemed; | 20But if he does not wish to redeem the field, or if he has sold the field to another man, it shall not be redeemed anymore. |
and when it reverts in the jubilee, the field shall be holy to the LORD, like a field set apart; it shall be for the priest as his property. | 21But the field, when it is released in the jubilee, shall be a holy gift to the LORD, like a field that has been devoted. The priest shall be in possession of it. |
'Or if he consecrates to the LORD a field which he has bought, which is not a part of the field of his own property, | 22If he dedicates to the LORD a field that he has bought, which is not a part of his possession, |
then the priest shall calculate for him the amount of your valuation up to the year of jubilee; and he shall on that day give your valuation as holy to the LORD. | 23then the priest shall calculate the amount of the valuation for it up to the year of jubilee, and the man shall give the valuation on that day as a holy gift to the LORD. |
'In the year of jubilee the field shall return to the one from whom he bought it, to whom the possession of the land belongs. | 24In the year of jubilee the field shall return to him from whom it was bought, to whom the land belongs as a possession. |
'Every valuation of yours, moreover, shall be after the shekel of the sanctuary. The shekel shall be twenty gerahs. | 25Every valuation shall be according to the shekel of the sanctuary: twenty gerahs shall make a shekel. |
'However, a firstborn among animals, which as a firstborn belongs to the LORD, no man may consecrate it; whether ox or sheep, it is the LORD'S. | 26“But a firstborn of animals, which as a firstborn belongs to the LORD, no man may dedicate; whether ox or sheep, it is the LORD’s. |
But if it is among the unclean animals, then he shall redeem it according to your valuation and add to it one-fifth of it; and if it is not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to your valuation. | 27And if it is an unclean animal, then he shall buy it back at the valuation, and add a fifth to it; or, if it is not redeemed, it shall be sold at the valuation. |
'Nevertheless, anything which a man sets apart to the LORD out of all that he has, of man or animal or of the fields of his own property, shall not be sold or redeemed. Anything devoted to destruction is most holy to the LORD. | 28“But no devoted thing that a man devotes to the LORD, of anything that he has, whether man or beast, or of his inherited field, shall be sold or redeemed; every devoted thing is most holy to the LORD. |
'No one who may have been set apart among men shall be ransomed; he shall surely be put to death. | 29No one devoted, who is to be devoted for destruction from mankind, shall be ransomed; he shall surely be put to death. |
'Thus all the tithe of the land, of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD'S; it is holy to the LORD. | 30“Every tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the trees, is the LORD’s; it is holy to the LORD. |
'If, therefore, a man wishes to redeem part of his tithe, he shall add to it one-fifth of it. | 31If a man wishes to redeem some of his tithe, he shall add a fifth to it. |
'For every tenth part of herd or flock, whatever passes under the rod, the tenth one shall be holy to the LORD. | 32And every tithe of herds and flocks, every tenth animal of all that pass under the herdsman’s staff, shall be holy to the LORD. |
He is not to be concerned whether it is good or bad, nor shall he exchange it; or if he does exchange it, then both it and its substitute shall become holy. It shall not be redeemed.'" | 33One shall not differentiate between good or bad, neither shall he make a substitute for it; and if he does substitute for it, then both it and the substitute shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.” |
