King James Bible | New Living Translation |
A Psalm or Song for the sons of Korah. His foundation is in the holy mountains. | 1On the holy mountain stands the city founded by the LORD. |
The LORD loveth the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob. | 2He loves the city of Jerusalem more than any other city in Israel. |
Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God. Selah. | 3O city of God, what glorious things are said of you! Interlude |
I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to them that know me: behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia; this man was born there. | 4I will count Egypt and Babylon among those who know me— also Philistia and Tyre, and even distant Ethiopia. They have all become citizens of Jerusalem! |
And of Zion it shall be said, This and that man was born in her: and the highest himself shall establish her. | 5Regarding Jerusalem it will be said, “Everyone enjoys the rights of citizenship there.” And the Most High will personally bless this city. |
The LORD shall count, when he writeth up the people, that this man was born there. Selah. | 6When the LORD registers the nations, he will say, “They have all become citizens of Jerusalem.” Interlude |
As well the singers as the players on instruments shall be there: all my springs are in thee. | 7The people will play flutes and sing, “The source of my life springs from Jerusalem!” |
