King James Bible | New Living Translation |
A Psalm of David. I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing. | 1I will sing of your love and justice, LORD. I will praise you with songs. |
I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. | 2I will be careful to live a blameless life— when will you come to help me? I will lead a life of integrity in my own home. |
I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me. | 3I will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar. I hate all who deal crookedly; I will have nothing to do with them. |
A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person. | 4I will reject perverse ideas and stay away from every evil. |
Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer. | 5I will not tolerate people who slander their neighbors. I will not endure conceit and pride. |
Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me. | 6I will search for faithful people to be my companions. Only those who are above reproach will be allowed to serve me. |
He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight. | 7I will not allow deceivers to serve in my house, and liars will not stay in my presence. |
I will early destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the LORD. | 8My daily task will be to ferret out the wicked and free the city of the LORD from their grip. |
