King James Bible | NET Bible |
I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. | 1I love the LORD because he heard my plea for mercy, |
Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live. | 2and listened to me. As long as I live, I will call to him when I need help. |
The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow. | 3The ropes of death tightened around me, the snares of Sheol confronted me. I was confronted with trouble and sorrow. |
Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul. | 4I called on the name of the LORD, "Please LORD, rescue my life!" |
Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful. | 5The LORD is merciful and fair; our God is compassionate. |
The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me. | 6The LORD protects the untrained; I was in serious trouble and he delivered me. |
Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee. | 7Rest once more, my soul, for the LORD has vindicated you. |
For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling. | 8Yes, LORD, you rescued my life from death, and kept my feet from stumbling. |
I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living. | 9I will serve the LORD in the land of the living. |
I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted: | 10I had faith when I said, "I am severely oppressed." |
I said in my haste, All men are liars. | 11I rashly declared, "All men are liars." |
What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me? | 12How can I repay the LORD for all his acts of kindness to me? |
I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD. | 13I will celebrate my deliverance, and call on the name of the LORD. |
I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people. | 14I will fulfill my vows to the LORD before all his people. |
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. | 15The LORD values the lives of his faithful followers. |
O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds. | 16Yes, LORD! I am indeed your servant; I am your lowest slave. You saved me from death. |
I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD. | 17I will present a thank offering to you, and call on the name of the LORD. |
I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people, | 18I will fulfill my vows to the LORD before all his people, |
In the courts of the LORD'S house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD. | 19in the courts of the LORD's temple, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD! |
