I love the LORD because he has heard my prayer for mercy; | 1I love the LORD, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. |
for he listens to me whenever I call. | 2Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live. |
The ropes of death were wound around me and the anguish of Sheol came upon me; I encountered distress and sorrow. | 3The cords of death entangled me, the anguish of the grave came over me; I was overcome by distress and sorrow. |
Then I called on the name of the LORD, "LORD, please deliver me!" | 4Then I called on the name of the LORD: "LORD, save me!" |
The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is compassionate; | 5The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion. |
the LORD watches over the innocent; I was brought low, and he delivered me. | 6The LORD protects the unwary; when I was brought low, he saved me. |
Return to your resting place, my soul, for the LORD treated you generously. | 7Return to your rest, my soul, for the LORD has been good to you. |
Indeed, you delivered my soul from death, my eyes from crying, and my feet from stumbling. | 8For you, LORD, have delivered me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling, |
I will walk in the LORD's presence in the lands of the living. | 9that I may walk before the LORD in the land of the living. |
I will continue to believe, even when I say, "I am greatly afflicted" | 10I trusted in the LORD when I said, "I am greatly afflicted"; |
and speak hastily, "All people are liars!" | 11in my alarm I said, "Everyone is a liar." |
What will I return to the LORD for all his benefits to me? | 12What shall I return to the LORD for all his goodness to me? |
I will raise my cup of deliverance and invoke the LORD's name. | 13I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD. |
I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people. | 14I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people. |
In the sight of the LORD, the death of his faithful ones is valued. | 15Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful servants. |
LORD, I am indeed your servant. I am your servant. I am the son of your handmaid. You have released my bonds. | 16Truly I am your servant, LORD; I serve you just as my mother did; you have freed me from my chains. |
I will bring you a thanksgiving offering and call on the name of the LORD! | 17I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the LORD. |
I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people, | 18I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people, |
in the courts of the LORD's house, in your midst, Jerusalem. Hallelujah! | 19in the courts of the house of the LORD-- in your midst, Jerusalem. Praise the LORD. |
