International Standard Version | NET Bible |
We praise you, God! We praise you —your presence draws near— as we declare your wonderful deeds. | 1For the music director; according to the al-tashcheth style; a psalm of Asaph; a song. We give thanks to you, O God! We give thanks! You reveal your presence; people tell about your amazing deeds. |
"At the time that I choose I will judge the righteous. | 2God says, "At the appointed times, I judge fairly. |
While the earth and all its inhabitants melt away, it is I who keep its pillars firm." Interlude | 3When the earth and all its inhabitants dissolve in fear, I make its pillars secure." (Selah) |
I will say to the proud, "Don't brag," and to the wicked, "Don't vaunt your strength. | 4I say to the proud, "Do not be proud," and to the wicked, "Do not be so confident of victory! |
Don't use your strength to fight heaven or speak from stubborn arrogance." | 5Do not be so certain you have won! Do not speak with your head held so high! |
For exaltation comes not from the east, the west, or the wilderness, | 6For victory does not come from the east or west, or from the wilderness. |
since God is the judge. This one he will debase or that one he will exalt. | 7For God is the judge! He brings one down and exalts another. |
For there is a cup in the hand of the LORD, foaming with well-mixed wine that he will pour out, leaving only the dregs, from which all the wicked of the earth will drink. | 8For the LORD holds in his hand a cup full of foaming wine mixed with spices, and pours it out. Surely all the wicked of the earth will slurp it up and drink it to its very last drop." |
But as for me, I will declare forever, singing praise to the God of Jacob. | 9As for me, I will continually tell what you have done; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob! |
I will cut down the strength of the wicked, but the strength of the righteous will be lifted up. | 10God says, "I will bring down all the power of the wicked; the godly will be victorious." |
