International Standard Version | NET Bible |
How blessed is the person, who does not take the advice of the wicked, who does not stand on the path with sinners, and who does not sit in the seat of mockers. | 1How blessed is the one who does not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand in the pathway with sinners, or sit in the assembly of scoffers! |
But he delights in the LORD's instruction, and meditates in his instruction day and night. | 2Instead he finds pleasure in obeying the LORD's commands; he meditates on his commands day and night. |
He will be like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding its fruit in its season, and whose leaf does not wither. He will prosper in everything he does. | 3He is like a tree planted by flowing streams; it yields its fruit at the proper time, and its leaves never fall off. He succeeds in everything he attempts. |
But this is not the case with the wicked. They are like chaff that the wind blows away. | 4Not so with the wicked! Instead they are like wind-driven chaff. |
Therefore the wicked will not escape judgment, nor will sinners have a place in the assembly of the righteous. | 5For this reason the wicked cannot withstand judgment, nor can sinners join the assembly of the godly. |
For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will be destroyed. | 6Certainly the LORD guards the way of the godly, but the way of the wicked ends in destruction. |
