Hallelujah! Praise the name of the LORD! Give praise, you servants of the LORD, | 1Praise the LORD! Praise the name of the LORD, give praise, O servants of the LORD, |
you who are standing in the LORD's Temple, in the courtyards of the house of our God. | 2who stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God! |
Praise the LORD, because the LORD is good; Sing to his name, for he is gracious. | 3Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; sing to his name, for it is pleasant! |
It is Jacob whom the LORD chose for himself— Israel as his personal possession. | 4For the LORD has chosen Jacob for himself, Israel as his own possession. |
Indeed, I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord surpasses all gods. | 5For I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods. |
The LORD does whatever pleases him in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all its deep regions. | 6Whatever the LORD pleases, he does, in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all deeps. |
He makes the clouds rise from the ends of the earth, fashioning lightning for the rain, bringing the wind from his storehouses. | 7He it is who makes the clouds rise at the end of the earth, who makes lightnings for the rain and brings forth the wind from his storehouses. |
It was the LORD who struck down the firstborn of Egypt, including both men and animals. | 8He it was who struck down the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and of beast; |
He sent signs and wonders among you, Egypt, before Pharaoh and all his servants. | 9who in your midst, O Egypt, sent signs and wonders against Pharaoh and all his servants; |
He struck down many nations, killing many kings— | 10who struck down many nations and killed mighty kings, |
Sihon, king of the Amorites, Og, king of Bashan, and every kingdom of Canaan— | 11Sihon, king of the Amorites, and Og, king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan, |
and he gave their land as an inheritance, an inheritance to his people Israel. | 12and gave their land as a heritage, a heritage to his people Israel. |
Your name, LORD, exists forever, and your reputation, LORD, throughout the ages. | 13Your name, O LORD, endures forever, your renown, O LORD, throughout all ages. |
For the LORD will vindicate his people, and he will show compassion on his servants. | 14For the LORD will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants. |
The idols of the nations are silver and gold, worked by the hands of human beings. | 15The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of human hands. |
Mouths are attributed to them, but they cannot speak; sight is attributed to them, but they cannot see; | 16They have mouths, but do not speak; they have eyes, but do not see; |
ears are attributed to them, but they do not hear, and there is no breath in their mouths. | 17they have ears, but do not hear, nor is there any breath in their mouths. |
Those who craft them— and all who trust in them— will become like them. | 18Those who make them become like them, so do all who trust in them. |
House of Israel, bless the LORD! House of Aaron, bless the LORD! | 19O house of Israel, bless the LORD! O house of Aaron, bless the LORD! |
House of Levi, bless the LORD! You who fear the LORD, bless the LORD! | 20O house of Levi, bless the LORD! You who fear the LORD, bless the LORD! |
Blessed be the LORD from Zion, he who lives in Jerusalem. Hallelujah! | 21Blessed be the LORD from Zion, he who dwells in Jerusalem! Praise the LORD! |
