Holman Christian Standard Bible | New International Version |
A song. A psalm of the sons of Korah. The LORD is great and highly praised in the city of our God. His holy mountain, | 1A song. A psalm of the Sons of Korah. Great is the LORD, and most worthy of praise, in the city of our God, his holy mountain. |
rising splendidly, is the joy of the whole earth. Mount Zion on the slopes of the north is the city of the great King. | 2Beautiful in its loftiness, the joy of the whole earth, like the heights of Zaphon is Mount Zion, the city of the Great King. |
God is known as a stronghold in its citadels. | 3God is in her citadels; he has shown himself to be her fortress. |
Look! The kings assembled; they advanced together. | 4When the kings joined forces, when they advanced together, |
They looked and froze with fear; they fled in terror. | 5they saw her and were astounded; they fled in terror. |
Trembling seized them there, agony like that of a woman in labor, | 6Trembling seized them there, pain like that of a woman in labor. |
as You wrecked the ships of Tarshish with the east wind. | 7You destroyed them like ships of Tarshish shattered by an east wind. |
Just as we heard, so we have seen in the city of Yahweh of Hosts, in the city of our God; God will establish it forever. Selah | 8As we have heard, so we have seen in the city of the LORD Almighty, in the city of our God: God makes her secure forever. |
God, within Your temple, we contemplate Your faithful love. | 9Within your temple, O God, we meditate on your unfailing love. |
Your name, God, like Your praise, reaches to the ends of the earth; Your right hand is filled with justice. | 10Like your name, O God, your praise reaches to the ends of the earth; your right hand is filled with righteousness. |
Mount Zion is glad. The towns of Judah rejoice because of Your judgments. | 11Mount Zion rejoices, the villages of Judah are glad because of your judgments. |
Go around Zion, encircle it; count its towers, | 12Walk about Zion, go around her, count her towers, |
note its ramparts; tour its citadels so that you can tell a future generation:" | 13consider well her ramparts, view her citadels, that you may tell of them to the next generation. |
This God, our God forever and ever-- He will always lead us." | 14For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end. |
