Holman Christian Standard Bible | New International Version |
How happy is the man who does not follow the advice of the wicked or take the path of sinners or join a group of mockers! | 1Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, |
Instead, his delight is in the LORD's instruction, and he meditates on it day and night. | 2but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. |
He is like a tree planted beside streams of water that bears its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. | 3That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither-- whatever they do prospers. |
The wicked are not like this; instead, they are like chaff that the wind blows away. | 4Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. |
Therefore the wicked will not survive the judgment, and sinners will not be in the community of the righteous. | 5Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. |
For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to ruin. | 6For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction. |
