For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. | 3For the LORD is a great God, a great king who is superior to all gods. |
In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also. | 4The depths of the earth are in his hand, and the mountain peaks belong to him. |
The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. | 5The sea is his, for he made it. His hands formed the dry land. |

For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. Today, if you hear his voice, | 7For he is our God; we are the people of his pasture, the sheep he owns. Today, if only you would obey him! |
do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, as on the day at Massah in the wilderness, | 8He says, "Do not be stubborn like they were at Meribah, like they were that day at Massah in the wilderness, |
when your fathers put me to the test and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work. | 9where your ancestors challenged my authority, and tried my patience, even though they had seen my work. |
For forty years I loathed that generation and said, “They are a people who go astray in their heart, and they have not known my ways.” | 10For forty years I was continually disgusted with that generation, and I said, 'These people desire to go astray; they do not obey my commands.' |
Therefore I swore in my wrath, “They shall not enter my rest.” | 11So I made a vow in my anger, 'They will never enter into the resting place I had set aside for them.'" |
