Hallelujah! Happy is the person who fears the LORD, taking great delight in his commands. | 1Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. |
His descendants will be powerful in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. | 2His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed. |
Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. | 3Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever. |
Light shines in the darkness for the upright. He is gracious, compassionate, and righteous. | 4Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous. |
Good will come to the one who lends generously and conducts his business fairly. | 5A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion. |
He will never be shaken. The righteous one will be remembered forever. | 6Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. |
He will not fear bad news; his heart is confident, trusting in the LORD. | 7He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD. |
His heart is assured; he will not fear. In the end he will look in triumph on his foes. | 8His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies. |
He distributes freely to the poor; his righteousness endures forever. His horn will be exalted in honor. | 9He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour. |
The wicked one will see it and be angry; he will gnash his teeth in despair. The desire of the wicked leads to ruin. | 10The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish. |
