Berean Study Bible | New Living Translation |
“When anyone brings a grain offering to the LORD, his offering must consist of fine flour. He is to pour olive oil on it, put frankincense on it, | 1“When you present grain as an offering to the LORD, the offering must consist of choice flour. You are to pour olive oil on it, sprinkle it with frankincense, |
and bring it to Aaron’s sons the priests. The priest shall take a handful of the flour and oil, together with all the frankincense, and burn this as a memorial portion on the altar, an offering made by fire, a pleasing aroma to the LORD. | 2and bring it to Aaron’s sons, the priests. The priest will scoop out a handful of the flour moistened with oil, together with all the frankincense, and burn this representative portion on the altar. It is a special gift, a pleasing aroma to the LORD. |
The remainder of the grain offering shall belong to Aaron and his sons; it is a most holy part of the offerings made by fire to the LORD. | 3The rest of the grain offering will then be given to Aaron and his sons. This offering will be considered a most holy part of the special gifts presented to the LORD. |
Now if you bring an offering of grain baked in an oven, it must consist of fine flour, either unleavened cakes mixed with oil or unleavened wafers coated with oil. | 4“If your offering is a grain offering baked in an oven, it must be made of choice flour, but without any yeast. It may be presented in the form of thin cakes mixed with olive oil or wafers spread with olive oil. |
If your offering is a grain offering prepared on a griddle, it must be unleavened bread made of fine flour mixed with oil. | 5If your grain offering is cooked on a griddle, it must be made of choice flour mixed with olive oil but without any yeast. |
Crumble it and pour oil on it; it is a grain offering. | 6Break it in pieces and pour olive oil on it; it is a grain offering. |
If your offering is a grain offering cooked in a pan, it must consist of fine flour with oil. | 7If your grain offering is prepared in a pan, it must be made of choice flour and olive oil. |
When you bring to the LORD the grain offering made in any of these ways, it is to be presented to the priest, and he shall take it to the altar. | 8“No matter how a grain offering for the LORD has been prepared, bring it to the priest, who will present it at the altar. |
The priest is to remove the memorial portion from the grain offering and burn it on the altar as an offering made by fire, a pleasing aroma to the LORD. | 9The priest will take a representative portion of the grain offering and burn it on the altar. It is a special gift, a pleasing aroma to the LORD. |
But the remainder of the grain offering shall belong to Aaron and his sons; it is a most holy part of the offerings made by fire to the LORD. | 10The rest of the grain offering will then be given to Aaron and his sons as their food. This offering will be considered a most holy part of the special gifts presented to the LORD. |
No grain offering that you present to the LORD may be made with leaven, for you are not to burn any leaven or honey as an offering made by fire to the LORD. | 11“Do not use yeast in preparing any of the grain offerings you present to the LORD, because no yeast or honey may be burned as a special gift presented to the LORD. |
You may bring them to the LORD as an offering of firstfruits, but they are not to be offered on the altar as a pleasing aroma. | 12You may add yeast and honey to an offering of the first crops of your harvest, but these must never be offered on the altar as a pleasing aroma to the LORD. |
And you shall season each of your grain offerings with salt. You must not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offering; you are to add salt to each of your offerings. | 13Season all your grain offerings with salt to remind you of God’s eternal covenant. Never forget to add salt to your grain offerings. |
If you bring a grain offering of firstfruits to the LORD, you shall offer crushed heads of new grain roasted on the fire. | 14“If you present a grain offering to the LORD from the first portion of your harvest, bring fresh grain that is coarsely ground and roasted on a fire. |
And you are to put oil and frankincense on it; it is a grain offering. | 15Put olive oil on this grain offering, and sprinkle it with frankincense. |
The priest shall then burn the memorial portion of the crushed grain and the oil, together with all its frankincense, as an offering made by fire to the LORD. | 16The priest will take a representative portion of the grain moistened with oil, together with all the frankincense, and burn it as a special gift presented to the LORD. |
