A Psalm. A song for the Sabbath day. It is good to praise the LORD, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High, | 1A Psalm or Song for the sabbath day. It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: |
to proclaim Your loving devotion in the morning and Your faithfulness at night | 2To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, |
with the ten-stringed harp and the melody of the lyre. | 3Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound. |
For You, O LORD, have made me glad by Your deeds; I sing for joy at the works of Your hands. | 4For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. |
How great are Your works, O LORD, how deep are Your thoughts! | 5O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep. |
A senseless man does not know, and a fool does not understand, | 6A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this. |
that though the wicked sprout like grass, and all evildoers flourish, they will be forever destroyed. | 7When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever: |
But You, O LORD, are exalted forever! | 8But thou, LORD, art most high for evermore. |
For surely Your enemies, O LORD, surely Your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered. | 9For, lo, thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. |
But You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox; with fine oil I have been anointed. | 10But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil. |
My eyes see the downfall of my enemies; my ears hear the wailing of my wicked foes. | 11Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me. |
The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. | 12The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. |
Planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God. | 13Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. |
In old age they will still bear fruit; healthy and green they will remain, | 14They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; |
to proclaim, “The LORD is upright; He is my Rock, and in Him there is no unrighteousness.” | 15To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him. |
