1And the first day of the week, very early morning (deep early dawn/day break), they came upon the tomb, bringing the aromatic spices that they had prepared, 2And they found the stone having been rolled away from the tomb. 3And having entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4And it happened while they were perplexed about it, and behold, two men stood by (stood upon) them in dazzling (flashing, lightening, word for star at root) clothing. 5And having become full of fear (terrified) of them, and bowing their faces unto the ground, they said to them, Why do you seek the living among (with, after) the dead? 6He is not here, but rather is risen! Remember how He spoke to you, yet being in Galilee, 7Saying, The Son of Man must be handed over into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and arise the third day. 8And they remembered His sayings (rhematon). 9And having returned from the tomb, they announced (reported) these things to all the eleven and to all the rest. 10And it was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the [mother] of James, and the rest with them who told these things to the apostles. 11And their sayings (rhemata) appeared in their sight like nonsense (idle/silly talk), and they did not believe them. 12However Peter having risen up ran to (upon) the tomb and having stooped down, he sees only the fine linen wrappings and he went away, wondering at that having happened to himself. miles) from Jerusalem, whose name is Emmaus;

13And behold, two of them, on the same day, were going unto a village being distant, sixty stadias (stadia-one eighth of a Roman mile, about 7 miles) from Jerusalem, whose name is Emmaus; 14And they were conversing with one another concerning all these things having occurred. 15And it happened in their conversing and inquiring together, and Jesus Himself having drawn near went with them; 16However their eyes were held so as not to recognize Him. 17And He said to them, What are these words that you exchange (throw against each other) with one another while walking? And they stood still, looking gloomy-eyed (downcast, sad, sullen-eyed, latin-tristes-sad). 18And answering, the one named Cleopas said to Him, Are you alone visiting Jerusalem and do not know the things having happened in it in these days? 19And He said to them, What things? And he said to Him, the things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who became a man, a Prophet powerful in deed and word before God and all the people; 20That the chief priests and our rulers handed Him over unto judgment of death and crucified Him. 21And we were hoping it was He, who is about to redeem Israel. But indeed also with all these things, brings us to this third day from which these things happened. 22But also certain women from out of us astonished us. Having been early to (upon) the tomb, 23And having not found His body, they came declaring to have seen a vision (latin-visionem) of angels who say He is alive. 24And some of those with us went to (upon) the tomb and found it so, just as the women said; and they did not see Him.

25And He said to them, O non-thinking and slow of heart to believe upon all that the prophets spoke. 26Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things? And to enter into His glory? 27And having begun from Moses and from all the prophets, He thoroughly interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.

28And they drew near unto the village where they were going and He acted as though He was going farther. 29And they compelled Him, saying, Abide with us, because it is toward evening and the day has already declined. And He entered in to abide with them. 30And it happened in His reclining with them, having taken the bread He blessed, and having broken, He gave it to them. 31And their eyes were fully opened and they recognized Him. And He became unapparent (invisible) to (away from) them. 32And they said to one another, Was not our heart burning within us as He was speaking with us on the way as He was fully opening the Scriptures to us? 33And having risen up that same hour, they returned unto Jerusalem and they found the eleven and those with them gathered together, 34Saying, indeed, the Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon. 35And they related the things on the way and how He was known to them in the breaking of the bread.

36And as they were saying these things to them, He Himself stood in the midst of them and says to them, Peace to you. 37However having been startled (fluttered, alarmed) and having been filled with fear, they supposed to behold a spirit. 38And He said to them, Why are you troubled (agitated, stirred up)? And why do deliberations come up in your hearts? 39See My hands and My feet, that I am He. Touch (Feel) Me and see, because a spirit has not flesh and bones, just as you see Me having. 40And having said this, He showed to them the hands and the feet. 41And still while they were not believing for (away from) joy and were marveling, He said to them, Do you have anything edible here? 42And they gave to Him a part of a broiled (roasted) fish {KJV, Darby, YLT add- and of honeycomb}. 43And having taken it, He ate it in their sight.

44And He said to them, These are My words, which I spoke to you still being with you, because it is necessary for all things having been written in the law of Moses, and the prophets and psalms concerning Me to be fulfilled. 45Then He opened their mind (understanding) to synthesize (understand, put together) the Scriptures, 46And said to them, This it has been written, the Christ was to suffer, and to rise up from out of the dead the third day; 47And repentance and remission of sins to be preached upon His name unto all ethnicities (nations) having begun from Jerusalem. 48You are witnesses of these things. 49And behold, I am sending out the promise of My Father upon you; and you remain in the city until that you should be endued (put on, clothed) with power from out of on high.

50And He led them outside as far as to Bethany and having lifted up His hands, He blessed them. 51And it happened in His blessing them, He was separated away from them and was carried up (brought up, led up) into heaven. 52And they having worshipped Him, returned unto Jerusalem with great joy. 53And all were continually in the temple, blessing God.
