Unclean spirits, often referred to as demons, are spiritual entities that are in opposition to God and His purposes. They are considered to be fallen angels who followed Satan in his rebellion against God. These spirits are characterized by their impurity and malevolent intent, seeking to influence and possess individuals, leading them away from righteousness and into sin.

The Bible provides numerous accounts of unclean spirits, particularly in the New Testament, where Jesus Christ frequently encounters and casts them out. In the Gospel of Mark, Jesus' authority over unclean spirits is evident: "Just then a man with an unclean spirit was in their synagogue. Possession by unclean spirits is depicted as a severe spiritual and physical condition. The possessed individuals often exhibit behaviors that are self-destructive and uncontrollable. In the case of the boy with a mute spirit, the father describes the spirit's influence: "Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid" (Mark 9:18). Jesus' intervention is necessary to free individuals from such bondage.
