Biblical Reference:
Remmonmethoar is mentioned in the Old Testament, specifically in the Book of Joshua. The reference can be found in Joshua 19:13, which details the allotment of land to the tribes of Israel. The verse in the Berean Standard Bible reads: "From there it passed along to the east of Gath Hepher, to Eth Kazin, and extended to Rimmon, curving around to Neah."

Geographical Context:
Remmonmethoar is associated with the territory allocated to the tribe of Zebulun. The description in Joshua 19:13 suggests that it is part of the boundary line of Zebulun's inheritance. The name itself appears to be a compound, possibly indicating a specific location or a boundary marker within the tribal allotment.

Etymology and Meaning:
The name "Remmonmethoar" is a combination of Hebrew words. "Remmon" or "Rimmon" can mean "pomegranate" or refer to a deity worshiped in ancient Near Eastern cultures. "Methoar" is less clear but may relate to a boundary or a specific geographical feature. The combination suggests a place of significance, possibly marked by natural or man-made landmarks.

Historical and Cultural Significance:
In the context of ancient Israel, boundary markers were crucial for defining tribal territories. The precise identification of Remmonmethoar remains uncertain, but its mention underscores the importance of land division among the tribes. This allocation was not only a matter of inheritance but also a fulfillment of God's promises to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Theological Implications:
The division of the Promised Land among the tribes of Israel is a testament to God's faithfulness in fulfilling His covenant promises. Each boundary, including those marked by places like Remmonmethoar, signifies the divine order and provision for His people. The detailed descriptions in the Book of Joshua highlight the importance of obedience and trust in God's plan for the nation of Israel.

Archaeological Insights:
While the exact location of Remmonmethoar has not been definitively identified, archaeological studies in the region of ancient Zebulun continue to provide insights into the historical and cultural context of the biblical narrative. Discoveries related to settlement patterns, boundary markers, and ancient inscriptions may one day shed more light on this enigmatic location.

Conclusion:
Remmonmethoar, as mentioned in the Book of Joshua, serves as a reminder of the intricate details involved in the division of the Promised Land. It reflects the historical reality of Israel's settlement and the theological significance of God's covenant with His people.

Remmonmethoar

a place which formed one of the landmarks of Zebulun. (Joshua 19:13) only. Methoar does not really form a part of the name, but should be translated (as in the margin of the Authorized Version) "Remmon which reaches to Neah." Dr. Robinson and Mr. Van Deuteronomy Velde place Rummaneh on the south border of the plain of Buttauf , three miles north-northeast of Seffurieh .

Easton's Bible Dictionary
(Joshua 19:13), rendered correctly in the Revised Version, "Rimmon, which stretcheth unto Neah," a landmark of Zebulun; called also Rimmon (1 Chronicles 6:77).
