Aloth is a location mentioned in the Old Testament of the Bible, specifically in the context of King Solomon's administrative divisions. The reference to Aloth is found in 1 Kings 4:16, where it is listed as part of the territories governed by one of Solomon's twelve district governors. The passage reads: "Baana son of Hushai, in Asher and in Aloth" . This indicates that Aloth was part of the region overseen by Baana, the son of Hushai, during Solomon's reign.

The exact location of Aloth is not definitively known, and it is not frequently mentioned elsewhere in biblical texts. However, its inclusion in the list of Solomon's administrative districts suggests that it was a place of some significance during the united monarchy of Israel. The mention alongside Asher, a well-known tribal territory in the northern part of Israel, provides a clue that Aloth was likely situated in or near this region.

In the broader context of 1 Kings 4, the passage describes the organization and prosperity of Solomon's kingdom. The division of the land into districts, each managed by a governor, reflects the administrative efficiency and centralized control that characterized Solomon's rule. This system was designed to ensure the collection of provisions and resources necessary to support the king's court and the extensive building projects undertaken during his reign, including the construction of the Temple in Jerusalem.

The mention of Aloth, though brief, contributes to the understanding of the geographical and political landscape of ancient Israel under Solomon. It highlights the extent of his kingdom and the diverse regions that were integrated into his administration. While the specific details about Aloth remain limited, its inclusion in the biblical record underscores the comprehensive nature of Solomon's governance and the interconnectedness of the various territories within his realm.

ALOTH

a'-loth (`aloth): So found in the King James Version and the Revised Version, margin in 1 Kings 4:16, where the Revised Version (British and American) has BEALOTH (be`aloth). A town, or district in northern Palestine, together with Asher under Baana, one of Solomon's twelve civil officers. Conder identifies with the ruin `Alia, near Achzib. There was another Bealoth in southern Palestine (Joshua 15:24). The difference in the form of the word in the King James Version and the Revised Version (British and American) is due to interpretation of the initial "b" as the preposition "in" in the former, and as part of the word itself in the latter.
