1. “A New Commandment” (John 13:34–35)

One of the most powerful calls to action is found when Jesus says, “By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35). This short command shows that genuine care for others signifies true faith in action. We’re not only encouraged to feel love toward those around us, but to express it in tangible, everyday ways.

2. “Love Is Patient, Love Is Kind” (1 Corinthians 13:4–7)

This famous passage gives us a beautiful portrait of love: “Love is patient, love is kind…” (1 Corinthians 13:4). In a fast-paced world, it’s easy to lose sight of patience or kindness. These verses remind us that real love doesn’t come with strings attached; it forgives, protects, and perseveres through life’s hurdles.

3. “Love Comes From God” (1 John 4:7–8)

Here we see an invitation to let God’s own relationship with us shape the way we treat others: “Beloved, let us love one another, for love comes from God” (1 John 4:7). The more we lean on His example, the more freely we can share kindness, compassion, and heartfelt concern with everyone in our path.

4. “Above All, Love Deeply” (1 Peter 4:8)

Relationships can get messy, yet we’re reminded, “Above all, love one another deeply” (1 Peter 4:8). This verse underscores the importance of prioritizing love even over our own comfort. It’s an invitation to see difficulties not as obstacles, but opportunities to practice patience and grace.

5. “Carry One Another’s Burdens” (Galatians 6:2)

We might have neighbors or friends who are overwhelmed by life’s demands, and Scripture says, “Carry one another’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2). Jumping in to help, offering a listening ear, or providing a meal reflects the compassion we’re called to show. Such practical support demonstrates genuine love where it’s most needed.

6. “Be Completely Humble and Gentle” (Ephesians 4:2)

Humility isn’t about putting ourselves down; it’s about lifting others up. That’s why we’re encouraged to “be completely humble and gentle” (Ephesians 4:2). In love, we step aside from pride and self-promotion to create space for understanding, empathy, and respect toward friends, family, and even strangers.

7. “Be Devoted to One Another” (Romans 12:10)

This verse urges us to nurture real, day-to-day relationships: “Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; outdo yourselves in honoring one another” (Romans 12:10). Going the extra mile with loved ones, neighbors, or coworkers sets a climate of generosity, which can spark hope all around us.

8. “Put On Love” (Colossians 3:14)

Here’s a vivid image: “And over all these virtues put on love” (Colossians 3:14). Just like dressing for the day, we choose to wrap ourselves in an attitude of kindness and care. If we start each morning by intentionally “putting on” love, our words and actions will speak volumes about our commitment to others.

9. “Love Your Enemies” (Matthew 5:44)

Loving those who disagree with us or even hurt us? That’s a tall order. Yet Jesus teaches, “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (Matthew 5:44). When we step out with compassion instead of retaliation, we reflect the sort of radical kindness only possible through a higher source of grace.

10. “My Command Is This” (John 15:12)

Rounding out our list, Jesus repeats the command one more time: “My command is this: Love one another as I have loved you” (John 15:12). Although simple to read, living it out can transform hearts, relationships, and entire communities. When we remember the love given to us, extending that same love to others becomes an ongoing testament to the power of faith in action.
