1In that day the LORD shall punish leviathan, the swiftly moving, coiling and crooked serpent, with His great and powerful sword; He shall slay the monster of the sea. 2In that day - sing about a fruitful vineyard. 3“I, the LORD, watch over it; I water it continually. I guard it night and day, so that no one may harm it. 4I am not angry. If only briers and thorns confronted Me, I would go through and trample them, I would burn them to the ground, 5Unless they come for My protection, that they may make peace with Me. Yes, let them make peace with Me. 6In the days to come I shall cause Jacob to take root; Israel shall bud and blossom, and fill all the world with fruit.” 7Has He (the LORD) struck Israel, as He struck those who assaulted Israel? Or is Israel slaughtered by Him in proportion to the slaughter of those who slaughtered her? 8No, but in measure, He called her to account by warfare and exile, blowing upon her as by a fierce wind on a day when the east wind blows. 9By this, then, shall the iniquity of Jacob be atoned for; and this will be the fruit of the purging of his (Israel’s) sin: when the LORD makes all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are crushed to dust, none of the idols and images to Asherah shall be left standing. 10Yet the fortified city shall be desolate, and forsaken as a habitation, and left like a wilderness; there shall the calves graze, and there shall they lie down, and strip its branches bare. 11When its boughs are withered and dry, they shall be broken off; and women will come, and make fires with them; for this is a people without understanding. Therefore, He Who made them will not have mercy on them, and their Creator will show them no compassion. 12And in that day the LORD shall thresh out the grain from the channel of the Euphrates River to the Wadi of Egypt, and you, children of Israel, shall be gleaned (gathered) one by one. 13And in that day, the great trumpet shall sound, and they shall come who were ready to perish in Assyria, and the exiles in Egypt; and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem.
