1I saw the LORD standing by the altar; and He said, “Strike the capitals (tops) of the door, that the doorposts may shake; and bring them down upon the head of all the people; those that survive I will kill with the sword; not one of them shall escape. 2Though they dig into sheol (the graves of the dead) there My hand shall take them; though they climb up to heaven, from there I will bring them down; 3And though they hide themselves on the top of Carmel, I will hunt them down and seize them from there; and though they are hidden from My sight at the bottom of the sea, there will I command the serpent to bite them; 4And though they go into captivity before their enemies, there will I command the sword to slay them; and I will set My eyes upon them for harm, and not for good.” 5The LORD Almighty is He Who touches the earth, and it melts, and all that dwell in it shall mourn; and the whole land shall rise like the Nile River; and then subside like the river of Egypt. 6It is He Whose dwelling reaches into the heavens, and its foundation on the earth; He draws up the waters of the sea, and pours them out upon the face of the earth; “The LORD” is His name. 7“Are you Israelites not the same to Me as the Ethiopians (Cushites)?” says the LORD. “Have I, Who brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt, not also brought the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Syrians from Kir? 8“Surely, the eyes of the LORD God are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth, except that I will not totally destroy the house of Jacob”, says the LORD. 9“For, lo, I will give the command, and I will shake and sift the house of Israel among all nations, as grain is sifted in a sieve; and yet not the least pebble shall fall to the earth. 10All the sinners among My people shall die by the sword – all those who say, ‘Nothing bad will happen to us.’ 11“In that day I will raise up (restore) the tabernacle of David that is broken, and repair its breaches (damaged areas); and I will rebuild it as it used to be in the days of old, 12So that they may possess the remnant of Edom, and all the nations that are called by My name”, says the LORD Who does these things. 13“The days are coming”, says the LORD, “That the grapes and grain shall grow faster than they can be harvested – the plowman shall overtake the reaper; and the treader of grapes, the one who sows seed; and the mountains shall drip with sweet wine, and all the hills shall flow with it. 14And I will bring again (restore) the captivity of My people Israel, and they shall rebuild the ruined cities, and dwell securely in them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink their wine; they shall also plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them. 15And I will settle them upon their own land, and they shall no more be uprooted out of their land which I have given to them”, says the LORD, your God.
