Paul's Greeting to Titus

3and which now at his appointed season he has brought to light through the preaching entrusted to me by the command of God our Savior,3and at the proper time manifested in his word through the preaching with which I have been entrusted by the command of God our Savior;3but at the proper time manifested, even His word, in the proclamation with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior,3But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;3In His own time He has revealed His message in the proclamation that I was entrusted with by the command of God our Savior:

Appointment of Elders on Crete

5The reason I left you in Crete was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appoint elders in every town, as I directed you.5This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you—5For this reason I left you in Crete, that you would set in order what remains and appoint elders in every city as I directed you,5For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:5The reason I left you in Crete was to set right what was left undone and, as I directed you, to appoint elders in every town:
6An elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.6if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination.6namely, if any man is above reproach, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, not accused of dissipation or rebellion.6If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.6one who is blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of wildness or rebellion.
7Since an overseer manages God's household, he must be blameless--not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain.7For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain,7For the overseer must be above reproach as God's steward, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not addicted to wine, not pugnacious, not fond of sordid gain,7For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;7For an overseer, as God's administrator, must be blameless, not arrogant, not hot-tempered, not addicted to wine, not a bully, not greedy for money,
8Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined.8but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined.8but hospitable, loving what is good, sensible, just, devout, self-controlled,8But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;8but hospitable, loving what is good, sensible, righteous, holy, self-controlled,
9He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.9He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.9holding fast the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching, so that he will be able both to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict.9Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.9holding to the faithful message as taught, so that he will be able both to encourage with sound teaching and to refute those who contradict it.

Correcting False Teachers

10For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk and deception, especially those of the circumcision group.10For there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision party.10For there are many rebellious men, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision,10For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:10For there are also many rebellious people, full of empty talk and deception, especially those from Judaism.
11They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach--and that for the sake of dishonest gain.11They must be silenced, since they are upsetting whole families by teaching for shameful gain what they ought not to teach.11who must be silenced because they are upsetting whole families, teaching things they should not teach for the sake of sordid gain.11Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.11It is necessary to silence them; they overthrow whole households by teaching what they shouldn't in order to get money dishonestly.
12One of Crete's own prophets has said it: "Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons."12One of the Cretans, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.”12One of themselves, a prophet of their own, said, "Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons."12One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.12One of their very own prophets said, Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.
13This saying is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith13This testimony is true. 16They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.16They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works.
