Then the LORD said to Moses,1The LORD spoke to Moses:
“Look, I have specifically chosen Bezalel son of Uri, grandson of Hur, of the tribe of Judah.2"See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah,
I have filled him with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts.3and I have filled him with the Spirit of God in skill, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship,
He is a master craftsman, expert in working with gold, silver, and bronze.4to make artistic designs for work with gold, with silver, and with bronze,
He is skilled in engraving and mounting gemstones and in carving wood. He is a master at every craft!5and with cutting and setting stone, and with cutting wood, to work in all kinds of craftsmanship.
“And I have personally appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, to be his assistant. Moreover, I have given special skill to all the gifted craftsmen so they can make all the things I have commanded you to make:6Moreover, I have also given him Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, and I have given ability to all the specially skilled, that they may make everything I have commanded you:
the Tabernacle; the Ark of the Covenant; the Ark’s cover—the place of atonement; all the furnishings of the Tabernacle;7the tent of meeting, the ark of the testimony, the atonement lid that is on it, all the furnishings of the tent,
the table and its utensils; the pure gold lampstand with all its accessories; the incense altar;8the table with its utensils, the pure lampstand with all its utensils, the altar of incense,
the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils; the washbasin with its stand;9the altar for the burnt offering with all its utensils, the large basin with its base,
the beautifully stitched garments—the sacred garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments for his sons to wear as they minister as priests;10the woven garments, the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments for his sons, to minister as priests,
the anointing oil; the fragrant incense for the Holy Place. The craftsmen must make everything as I have commanded you.” Instructions for the Sabbath11the anointing oil, and sweet incense for the Holy Place. They will make all these things just as I have commanded you."
The LORD then gave these instructions to Moses:12The LORD said to Moses,
“Tell the people of Israel: ‘Be careful to keep my Sabbath day, for the Sabbath is a sign of the covenant between me and you from generation to generation. It is given so you may know that I am the LORD, who makes you holy.13"Tell the Israelites, 'Surely you must keep my Sabbaths, for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the LORD who sanctifies you.
You must keep the Sabbath day, for it is a holy day for you. Anyone who desecrates it must be put to death; anyone who works on that day will be cut off from the community.14So you must keep the Sabbath, for it is holy for you. Everyone who defiles it must surely be put to death; indeed, if anyone does any work on it, then that person will be cut off from among his people.
You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day must be a Sabbath day of complete rest, a holy day dedicated to the LORD. Anyone who works on the Sabbath must be put to death.15Six days work may be done, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of complete rest, holy to the LORD; anyone who does work on the Sabbath day must surely be put to death.
The people of Israel must keep the Sabbath day by observing it from generation to generation. This is a covenant obligation for all time.16The Israelites must keep the Sabbath by observing the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant.
It is a permanent sign of my covenant with the people of Israel. For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, but on the seventh day he stopped working and was refreshed.’”17It is a sign between me and the Israelites forever; for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.'"
When the LORD finished speaking with Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, written by the finger of God.18He gave Moses two tablets of testimony when he had finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai, tablets of stone written by the finger of God.
