New King James VersionNew International Version
Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married; for he had married an Ethiopian woman.1Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite.
So they said, “Has the LORD indeed spoken only through Moses? Has He not spoken through us also?” And the LORD heard it.2"Has the LORD spoken only through Moses?" they asked. "Hasn't he also spoken through us?" And the LORD heard this.
(Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.)3(Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.)
Suddenly the LORD said to Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, “Come out, you three, to the tabernacle of meeting!” So the three came out.4At once the LORD said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam, "Come out to the tent of meeting, all three of you." So the three of them went out.
Then the LORD came down in the pillar of cloud and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam. And they both went forward.5Then the LORD came down in a pillar of cloud; he stood at the entrance to the tent and summoned Aaron and Miriam. When the two of them stepped forward,
Then He said, “Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the LORD, make Myself known to him in a vision; I speak to him in a dream.6he said, "Listen to my words: "When there is a prophet among you, I, the LORD, reveal myself to them in visions, I speak to them in dreams.
Not so with My servant Moses; He is faithful in all My house.7But this is not true of my servant Moses; he is faithful in all my house.
I speak with him face to face, Even plainly, and not in dark sayings; And he sees the form of the LORD. Why then were you not afraid To speak against My servant Moses?”8With him I speak face to face, clearly and not in riddles; he sees the form of the LORD. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?"
So the anger of the LORD was aroused against them, and He departed.9The anger of the LORD burned against them, and he left them.
And when the cloud departed from above the tabernacle, suddenly Miriam became leprous, as white as snow. Then Aaron turned toward Miriam, and there she was, a leper.10When the cloud lifted from above the tent, Miriam's skin was leprous --it became as white as snow. Aaron turned toward her and saw that she had a defiling skin disease,
So Aaron said to Moses, “Oh, my lord! Please do not lay this sin on us, in which we have done foolishly and in which we have sinned.11and he said to Moses, "Please, my lord, I ask you not to hold against us the sin we have so foolishly committed.
Please do not let her be as one dead, whose flesh is half consumed when he comes out of his mother’s womb!”12Do not let her be like a stillborn infant coming from its mother's womb with its flesh half eaten away."
So Moses cried out to the LORD, saying, “Please heal her, O God, I pray!”13So Moses cried out to the LORD, "Please, God, heal her!"
Then the LORD said to Moses, “If her father had but spit in her face, would she not be shamed seven days? Let her be shut out of the camp seven days, and afterward she may be received again.14The LORD replied to Moses, "If her father had spit in her face, would she not have been in disgrace for seven days? Confine her outside the camp for seven days; after that she can be brought back."
So Miriam was shut out of the camp seven days, and the people did not journey till Miriam was brought in again.15So Miriam was confined outside the camp for seven days, and the people did not move on till she was brought back.
And afterward the people moved from Hazeroth and camped in the Wilderness of Paran.16After that, the people left Hazeroth and encamped in the Desert of Paran.
