New King James VersionNET Bible
For every high priest taken from among men is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.1For every high priest is taken from among the people and appointed to represent them before God, to offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.
He can have compassion on those who are ignorant and going astray, since he himself is also subject to weakness.2He is able to deal compassionately with those who are ignorant and erring, since he also is subject to weakness,
Because of this he is required as for the people, so also for himself, to offer sacrifices for sins.3and for this reason he is obligated to make sin offerings for himself as well as for the people.
And no man takes this honor to himself, but he who is called by God, just as Aaron was.4And no one assumes this honor on his own initiative, but only when called to it by God, as in fact Aaron was.
So also Christ did not glorify Himself to become High Priest, but it was He who said to Him: “You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.”5So also Christ did not glorify himself in becoming high priest, but the one who glorified him was God, who said to him, "You are my Son! Today I have fathered you,"
As He also says in another place: “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek”;6as also in another place God says, "You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek."
who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear,7During his earthly life Christ offered both requests and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to the one who was able to save him from death and he was heard because of his devotion.
though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered.8Although he was a son, he learned obedience through the things he suffered.
And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,9And by being perfected in this way, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him,
called by God as High Priest “according to the order of Melchizedek,”10and he was designated by God as high priest in the order of Melchizedek.
of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing.11On this topic we have much to say and it is difficult to explain, since you have become sluggish in hearing.
For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.12For though you should in fact be teachers by this time, you need someone to teach you the beginning elements of God's utterances. You have gone back to needing milk, not solid food.
For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.13For everyone who lives on milk is inexperienced in the message of righteousness, because he is an infant.
But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.14But solid food is for the mature, whose perceptions are trained by practice to discern both good and evil.
