When Moses finished setting up the tabernacle, he anointed and consecrated it and all its furnishings. He also anointed and consecrated the altar and all its utensils.1And it came to pass on the day that Moses had fully set up the tabernacle, and had anointed it, and sanctified it, and all the instruments thereof, both the altar and all the vessels thereof, and had anointed them, and sanctified them;
Then the leaders of Israel, the heads of families who were the tribal leaders in charge of those who were counted, made offerings.2That the princes of Israel, heads of the house of their fathers, who were the princes of the tribes, and were over them that were numbered, offered:
They brought as their gifts before the LORD six covered carts and twelve oxen--an ox from each leader and a cart from every two. These they presented before the tabernacle.3And they brought their offering before the LORD, six covered wagons, and twelve oxen; a wagon for two of the princes, and for each one an ox: and they brought them before the tabernacle.
The LORD said to Moses,4And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
"Accept these from them, that they may be used in the work at the tent of meeting. Give them to the Levites as each man's work requires."5Take it of them, that they may be to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation; and thou shalt give them unto the Levites, to every man according to his service.
So Moses took the carts and oxen and gave them to the Levites.6And Moses took the wagons and the oxen, and gave them unto the Levites.
He gave two carts and four oxen to the Gershonites, as their work required,7Two wagons and four oxen he gave unto the sons of Gershon, according to their service:
and he gave four carts and eight oxen to the Merarites, as their work required. They were all under the direction of Ithamar son of Aaron, the priest.8And four wagons and eight oxen he gave unto the sons of Merari, according unto their service, under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.
But Moses did not give any to the Kohathites, because they were to carry on their shoulders the holy things, for which they were responsible.9But unto the sons of Kohath he gave none: because the service of the sanctuary belonging unto them was that they should bear upon their shoulders.
When the altar was anointed, the leaders brought their offerings for its dedication and presented them before the altar.10And the princes offered for dedicating of the altar in the day that it was anointed, even the princes offered their offering before the altar.
