A psalm of David. When he fled from his son Absalom. LORD, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! | 1O LORD, how many are my foes! Many are rising against me; |
Many are saying of me, "God will not deliver him." | 2many are saying of my soul, “There is no salvation for him in God.” Selah |
But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. | 3But you, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. |
I call out to the LORD, and he answers me from his holy mountain. | 4I cried aloud to the LORD, and he answered me from his holy hill. Selah |
I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the LORD sustains me. | 5I lay down and slept; I woke again, for the LORD sustained me. |
I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side. | 6I will not be afraid of many thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around. |
Arise, LORD! Deliver me, my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked. | 7Arise, O LORD! Save me, O my God! For you strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked. |
From the LORD comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people. | 8Salvation belongs to the LORD; your blessing be on your people! Selah |
