New American Standard Bible 1995 | International Standard Version |
A Psalm of the sons of Korah. A Song. His foundation is in the holy mountains. | 1God's foundation is in the holy mountains. |
The LORD loves the gates of Zion More than all the other dwelling places of Jacob. | 2The LORD loves the gates of Zion more than the dwellings of Jacob. |
Glorious things are spoken of you, O city of God. Selah. | 3Glorious things are spoken about you, city of God. Interlude |
"I shall mention Rahab and Babylon among those who know Me; Behold, Philistia and Tyre with Ethiopia: 'This one was born there.'" | 4I will mention Rahab and Babylon among those who acknowledge me— including Philistia, Tyre, and Ethiopia — "This one was born there," they say. |
But of Zion it shall be said, "This one and that one were born in her"; And the Most High Himself will establish her. | 5Indeed, about Zion it will be said: "More than one person was born in it," and "The Most High himself did it." |
The LORD will count when He registers the peoples, "This one was born there." Selah. | 6The LORD will record, as he registers the peoples, "This one was born there." Interlude |
Then those who sing as well as those who play the flutes shall say, "All my springs of joy are in you." | 7Then singers, as they play their instruments, will declare, "All my roots are in you." |
