Holman Christian Standard Bible | New Living Translation |
A psalm of David when he fled from his son Absalom. LORD, how my foes increase! There are many who attack me. | 1O LORD, I have so many enemies; so many are against me. |
Many say about me," There is no help for him in God." Selah | 2So many are saying, “God will never rescue him!” Interlude |
But You, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, and the One who lifts up my head. | 3But you, O LORD, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high. |
I cry aloud to the LORD, and He answers me from His holy mountain. Selah | 4I cried out to the LORD, and he answered me from his holy mountain. Interlude |
I lie down and sleep; I wake again because the LORD sustains me. | 5I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the LORD was watching over me. |
I am not afraid of the thousands of people who have taken their stand against me on every side. | 6I am not afraid of ten thousand enemies who surround me on every side. |
Rise up, LORD! Save me, my God! You strike all my enemies on the cheek; You break the teeth of the wicked. | 7Arise, O LORD! Rescue me, my God! Slap all my enemies in the face! Shatter the teeth of the wicked! |
Salvation belongs to the LORD; may Your blessing be on Your people. Selah | 8Victory comes from you, O LORD. May you bless your people. Interlude |
