English Standard Version | NET Bible |
He made an altar of bronze, twenty cubits long and twenty cubits wide and ten cubits high. | 1He made a bronze altar, 30 feet long, 30 feet wide, and 15 feet high. |
Then he made the sea of cast metal. It was round, ten cubits from brim to brim, and five cubits high, and a line of thirty cubits measured its circumference. | 2He also made the big bronze basin called "The Sea." It measured 15 feet from rim to rim, was circular in shape, and stood seven and one-half feet high. Its circumference was 45 feet. |
Under it were figures of gourds, for ten cubits, compassing the sea all around. The gourds were in two rows, cast with it when it was cast. | 3Images of bulls were under it all the way around, ten every eighteen inches all the way around. The bulls were in two rows and had been cast with "The Sea." |
It stood on twelve oxen, three facing north, three facing west, three facing south, and three facing east. The sea was set on them, and all their rear parts were inward. | 4"The Sea" stood on top of twelve bulls. Three faced northward, three westward, three southward, and three eastward. "The Sea" was placed on top of them, and they all faced outward. |
Its thickness was a handbreadth. And its brim was made like the brim of a cup, like the flower of a lily. It held 3,000 baths. | 5It was four fingers thick and its rim was like that of a cup shaped like a lily blossom. It could hold 18,000 gallons. |
He also made ten basins in which to wash, and set five on the south side, and five on the north side. In these they were to rinse off what was used for the burnt offering, and the sea was for the priests to wash in. | 6He made ten washing basins; he put five on the south side and five on the north side. In them they rinsed the items used for burnt sacrifices; the priests washed in "The Sea." |
And he made ten golden lampstands as prescribed, and set them in the temple, five on the south side and five on the north. | 7He made ten gold lampstands according to specifications and put them in the temple, five on the right and five on the left. |
He also made ten tables and placed them in the temple, five on the south side and five on the north. And he made a hundred basins of gold. | 8He made ten tables and set them in the temple, five on the right and five on the left. He also made one hundred gold bowls. |
He made the court of the priests and the great court and doors for the court and overlaid their doors with bronze. | 9He made the courtyard of the priests and the large enclosure and its doors; he plated their doors with bronze. |
And he set the sea at the southeast corner of the house. | 10He put "The Sea" on the south side, in the southeast corner. |
Hiram also made the pots, the shovels, and the basins. So Hiram finished the work that he did for King Solomon on the house of God: | 11Huram Abi made the pots, shovels, and bowls. He finished all the work on God's temple he had been assigned by King Solomon. |
the two pillars, the bowls, and the two capitals on the top of the pillars; and the two latticeworks to cover the two bowls of the capitals that were on the top of the pillars; | 12He made the two pillars, the two bowl-shaped tops of the pillars, the latticework for the bowl-shaped tops of the two pillars, |
and the 400 pomegranates for the two latticeworks, two rows of pomegranates for each latticework, to cover the two bowls of the capitals that were on the pillars. | 13the four hundred pomegranate-shaped ornaments for the latticework of the two pillars (each latticework had two rows of these ornaments at the bowl-shaped top of the pillar), |
He made the stands also, and the basins on the stands, | 14the ten movable stands with their ten basins, |
and the one sea, and the twelve oxen underneath it. | 15the big bronze basin called "The Sea" with its twelve bulls underneath, |
The pots, the shovels, the forks, and all the equipment for these Huram-abi made of burnished bronze for King Solomon for the house of the LORD. | 16and the pots, shovels, and meat forks. All the items King Solomon assigned Huram Abi to make for the LORD's temple were made from polished bronze. |
In the plain of the Jordan the king cast them, in the clay ground between Succoth and Zeredah. | 17The king had them cast in earthen foundries in the region of the Jordan between Succoth and Zarethan. |
Solomon made all these things in great quantities, for the weight of the bronze was not sought. | 18Solomon made so many of these items they did not weigh the bronze. |
So Solomon made all the vessels that were in the house of God: the golden altar, the tables for the bread of the Presence, | 19Solomon also made these items for God's temple: the gold altar, the tables on which the Bread of the Presence was kept, |
the lampstands and their lamps of pure gold to burn before the inner sanctuary, as prescribed; | 20the pure gold lampstands and their lamps which burned as specified at the entrance to the inner sanctuary, |
the flowers, the lamps, and the tongs, of purest gold; | 21the pure gold flower-shaped ornaments, lamps, and tongs, |
the snuffers, basins, dishes for incense, and fire pans, of pure gold, and the sockets of the temple, for the inner doors to the Most Holy Place and for the doors of the nave of the temple were of gold. | 22the pure gold trimming shears, basins, pans, and censers, and the gold door sockets for the inner sanctuary (the most holy place) and for the doors of the main hall of the temple. |
