English Standard Version | Berean Study Bible |
O God, save me by your name, and vindicate me by your might. | 1For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments. A Maskil of David. When the Ziphites went to Saul and said, “Is David not hiding among us?” Save me, O God, by Your name, and vindicate me by Your might! |
O God, hear my prayer; give ear to the words of my mouth. | 2Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth. |
For strangers have risen against me; ruthless men seek my life; they do not set God before themselves. Selah | 3For strangers rise up against me, and ruthless men seek my life—men with no regard for God. Selah |
Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life. | 4Surely God is my helper; the Lord is the sustainer of my soul. |
He will return the evil to my enemies; in your faithfulness put an end to them. | 5He will reward my enemies with evil. In Your faithfulness, destroy them. |
With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to you; I will give thanks to your name, O LORD, for it is good. | 6Freely I will sacrifice to You; I will praise Your name, O LORD, for it is good. |
For he has delivered me from every trouble, and my eye has looked in triumph on my enemies. | 7For He has delivered me from every trouble, and my eyes have stared down my foes. |
