| 1The LORD spoke to Moses, | 1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, |
| 2"Command the Israelites and say to them: When you enter the land of Canaan, it will be allotted to you as an inheritance with these borders: | 2Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land of Canaan; (this is the land that shall fall unto you for an inheritance, even the land of Canaan with the coasts thereof:) |
| 3Your southern side will be from the Wilderness of Zin along the boundary of Edom. Your southern border on the east will begin at the east end of the Dead Sea. | 3Then your south quarter shall be from the wilderness of Zin along by the coast of Edom, and your south border shall be the outmost coast of the salt sea eastward: |
| 4Your border will turn south of the Scorpions' Ascent, proceed to Zin, and end south of Kadesh-barnea. It will go to Hazar-addar and proceed to Azmon. | 4And your border shall turn from the south to the ascent of Akrabbim, and pass on to Zin: and the going forth thereof shall be from the south to Kadeshbarnea, and shall go on to Hazaraddar, and pass on to Azmon: |
| 5The border will turn from Azmon to the Brook of Egypt, where it will end at the Mediterranean Sea. | 5And the border shall fetch a compass from Azmon unto the river of Egypt, and the goings out of it shall be at the sea. |
| 6Your western border will be the coastline of the Mediterranean Sea; this will be your western border. | 6And as for the western border, ye shall even have the great sea for a border: this shall be your west border. |
| 7This will be your northern border: From the Mediterranean Sea draw a line to Mount Hor; | 7And this shall be your north border: from the great sea ye shall point out for you mount Hor: |
| 8from Mount Hor draw a line to the entrance of Hamath, and the border will reach Zedad. | 8From mount Hor ye shall point out your border unto the entrance of Hamath; and the goings forth of the border shall be to Zedad: |
| 9Then the border will go to Ziphron and end at Hazar-enan. This will be your northern border. | 9And the border shall go on to Ziphron, and the goings out of it shall be at Hazarenan: this shall be your north border. |
| 10For your eastern border, draw a line from Hazar-enan to Shepham. | 10And ye shall point out your east border from Hazarenan to Shepham: |
| 11The border will go down from Shepham to Riblah east of Ain. It will continue down and reach the eastern slope of the Sea of Chinnereth. | 11And the coast shall go down from Shepham to Riblah, on the east side of Ain; and the border shall descend, and shall reach unto the side of the sea of Chinnereth eastward: |
| 12Then the border will go down to the Jordan and end at the Dead Sea. This will be your land defined by its borders on all sides." | 12And the border shall go down to Jordan, and the goings out of it shall be at the salt sea: this shall be your land with the coasts thereof round about. |
| 13So Moses commanded the Israelites, "This is the land you are to receive by lot as an inheritance, which the LORD commanded to be given to the nine and a half tribes. | 13And Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying, This is the land which ye shall inherit by lot, which the LORD commanded to give unto the nine tribes, and to the half tribe: |
| 14For the tribe of Reuben's descendants and the tribe of Gad's descendants have received their inheritance according to their ancestral families, and half the tribe of Manasseh has received its inheritance. | 14For the tribe of the children of Reuben according to the house of their fathers, and the tribe of the children of Gad according to the house of their fathers, have received their inheritance; and half the tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance: |
| 15The two and a half tribes have received their inheritance across the Jordan east of Jericho, toward the sunrise." | 15The two tribes and the half tribe have received their inheritance on this side Jordan near Jericho eastward, toward the sunrising. |
| 16The LORD spoke to Moses, | 16And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, |
| 17"These are the names of the men who are to distribute the land as an inheritance for you: the priest Eleazar and Joshua son of Nun. | 17These are the names of the men which shall divide the land unto you: Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun. |
| 18Take one leader from each tribe to distribute the land. | 18And ye shall take one prince of every tribe, to divide the land by inheritance. |
| 19These are the names of the men: Caleb son of Jephunneh from the tribe of Judah; | 19And the names of the men are these: Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh. |
| 20Shemuel son of Ammihud from the tribe of Simeon's descendants; | 20And of the tribe of the children of Simeon, Shemuel the son of Ammihud. |
| 21Elidad son of Chislon from the tribe of Benjamin; | 21Of the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad the son of Chislon. |
| 22Bukki son of Jogli, a leader from the tribe of Dan's descendants; | 22And the prince of the tribe of the children of Dan, Bukki the son of Jogli. |
| 23from the sons of Joseph: Hanniel son of Ephod, a leader from the tribe of Manasseh's descendants, | 23The prince of the children of Joseph, for the tribe of the children of Manasseh, Hanniel the son of Ephod. |
| 24Kemuel son of Shiphtan, a leader from the tribe of Ephraim's descendants; | 24And the prince of the tribe of the children of Ephraim, Kemuel the son of Shiphtan. |
| 25Eli-zaphan son of Parnach, a leader from the tribe of Zebulun's descendants; | 25And the prince of the tribe of the children of Zebulun, Elizaphan the son of Parnach. |
| 26Paltiel son of Azzan, a leader from the tribe of Issachar's descendants; | 26And the prince of the tribe of the children of Issachar, Paltiel the son of Azzan. |
| 27Ahihud son of Shelomi, a leader from the tribe of Asher's descendants; | 27And the prince of the tribe of the children of Asher, Ahihud the son of Shelomi. |
| 28Pedahel son of Ammihud, a leader from the tribe of Naphtali's descendants." | 28And the prince of the tribe of the children of Naphtali, Pedahel the son of Ammihud. |
| 29These are the ones the LORD commanded to distribute the inheritance to the Israelites in the land of Canaan. | 29These are they whom the LORD commanded to divide the inheritance unto the children of Israel in the land of Canaan. |
