Berean Study Bible | English Standard Version |
A Psalm of David, when he fled from his son Absalom. O LORD, how my foes have increased! How many rise up against me! | 1O LORD, how many are my foes! Many are rising against me; |
Many say of me, “God will not deliver him.” Selah | 2many are saying of my soul, “There is no salvation for him in God.” Selah |
But You, O LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, and the One who lifts my head. | 3But you, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. |
To the LORD I cry aloud, and He answers me from His holy mountain. Selah | 4I cried aloud to the LORD, and he answered me from his holy hill. Selah |
I lie down and sleep; I wake again, for the LORD sustains me. | 5I lay down and slept; I woke again, for the LORD sustained me. |
I will not fear the myriads set against me on every side. | 6I will not be afraid of many thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around. |
Arise, O LORD! Save me, O my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked. | 7Arise, O LORD! Save me, O my God! For you strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked. |
Salvation belongs to the LORD; may Your blessing be on Your people. Selah | 8Salvation belongs to the LORD; your blessing be on your people! Selah |
