On Life and Conduct 1Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, And whoever is intoxicated by it is not wise.
The terror of a king is like the growling of a lion;
Keeping away from strife is an honor for a man,
The sluggard does not plow after the autumn,
A plan in the heart of a man is like deep water,
Many a man proclaims his own loyalty,
A righteous man who walks in his integrity
A king who sits on the throne of justice
Who can say, I have cleansed my heart,
Differing weights and differing measures,
It is by his deeds that a lad distinguishes himself
The hearing ear and the seeing eye,
Do not love sleep, or you will become poor;
Bad, bad, says the buyer,
There is gold, and an abundance of jewels;
Take his garment when he becomes surety for a stranger;
Bread obtained by falsehood is sweet to a man,
Prepare plans by consultation,
He who goes about as a slanderer reveals secrets,
He who curses his father or his mother,
An inheritance gained hurriedly at the beginning
Do not say, I will repay evil;
Differing weights are an abomination to the LORD,
Mans steps are ordained by the LORD,
It is a trap for a man to say rashly, It is holy!
A wise king winnows the wicked,
The spirit of man is the lamp of the LORD,
Loyalty and truth preserve the king,
The glory of young men is their strength,
Stripes that wound scour away evil, NASB 1995 Copyright © 1960, 1962, 1963, 1968, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1977, 1995 by The Lockman Foundation, La Habra, Calif. All rights reserved. For Permission to Quote Information visit http://www.lockman.org Bible Hub |
