The beginning of this law is very encouraging, When ye come into the land of your habitation which I give unto you. This was a plain intimation that God would secure the promised land to their seed. It was requisite, since the sacrifices of acknowledgment were intended as the food of God's table, that there should be a constant supply of bread, oil, and wine, whatever the flesh-meat was. And the intent of this law is to direct the proportions of the meat-offering and drink-offering. Natives and strangers are placed on a level in this as in other like matters. It was a happy forewarning of the calling of the Gentiles, and of their admission into the church. If the law made so little difference between Jew and Gentile, much less would the gospel, which broke down the partition-wall, and reconciled both to God.The meat-offering is treated in Leviticus 2. The drink-offering Exodus 29:40; Leviticus 23:13, hitherto an ordinary accessory to the former, is now prescribed forevery sacrifice. 6-12. two tenth deals—The quantity of flour was increased because the sacrifice was of superior value to the former. The accessory sacrifices were always increased in proportion to the greater worth and magnitude of its principal. No text from Poole on this verse. Thus shall it be done for one bullock,.... Such a quantity of flour and oil for the meat offering, and such a quantity of wine for the drink offering as before expressed; making no difference between one young or old: or for a ram: which, Jarchi says, was thirteen months and one day old: or for a lamb, or a kid; for a young one of the flock, whether of the sheep or goat, whether a lamb or a kid of the goats; which, according to Jarchi, were within a year, not a year old. Thus shall it be done for one bullock, or for one ram, or for a lamb, or a kid.EXEGETICAL (ORIGINAL LANGUAGES) Numbers 15:11The quantities mentioned were to be offered with every ox, or ram, or lamb, of either sheep or goat, and therefore the number of the appointed quantities of meat and drink-offerings was to correspond to the number of sacrificial animals.Links Numbers 15:11 InterlinearNumbers 15:11 Parallel Texts Numbers 15:11 NIV Numbers 15:11 NLT Numbers 15:11 ESV Numbers 15:11 NASB Numbers 15:11 KJV Numbers 15:11 Bible Apps Numbers 15:11 Parallel Numbers 15:11 Biblia Paralela Numbers 15:11 Chinese Bible Numbers 15:11 French Bible Numbers 15:11 German Bible Bible Hub |
