This event revealed Jesus' divine glory and affirmed His identity as the Son of God.

2. The Raising of Jairus' Daughter: In Mark 5:37-43 , Jesus allowed only Peter, James, and John to accompany Him to the house of Jairus, a synagogue leader whose daughter had died. Jesus took the girl by the hand and said, "Talitha koum," which means, "Little girl, I say to you, get up!" Immediately, the girl stood up and began to walk around. This miracle demonstrated Jesus' power over death and His compassion for those in need.

3. The Garden of Gethsemane: On the night before His crucifixion, Jesus took Peter, James, and John with Him to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray. He expressed His deep sorrow and distress, saying, "My soul is consumed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with Me" (Matthew 26:38). Despite Jesus' request, the disciples fell asleep, highlighting their human frailty and the intense spiritual struggle Jesus faced as He prepared for His sacrificial death.

Significance of the Inner Circle

The Inner Circle's experiences with Jesus provided them with unique insights into His divine nature and mission. Their close relationship with Jesus equipped them for leadership roles in the early Church. Peter became a prominent leader and spokesperson among the apostles, as seen in the Book of Acts. James, the brother of John, was the first apostle to be martyred, as recorded in Acts 12:2 .
