On that occasion there came three young men with the intention not only of scoffing at the minister, but with stones in their pockets for the purpose of assaulting him. After a few words one of them said with an oath, 'Let us be at him now;' but the second replied, 'No; stop till we hear what he makes of this point.' The minister went on, when the second said, 'We have heard enough; now throw,' But the third interfered, remarking, 'He is not so foolish as I expected; let us hear him out.' The preacher concluded without having been interrupted. Now mark me — of these three young men one was executed for forgery; the second lies under sentence of death for murder; the third, through the infinite mercy of God, now addresses you.
