Homiletic Review Luke 12:35-40 Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;… 1. Death is a surprise in the time of its coming. 2. It is a surprise in the way of its coming. 3. It is a surprise, as it finds the sinner unprepared. He meant to be ready, but death was too quick for him.OBSERVATIONS: 1. God has wisely hidden from us the day of death, that we may be always ready and watching for His coming. 2. There is never but a step, a breath, a heart-throb, between any man and death! While the citadel is guarded, and the walls and gates are watched day and night with sleepless vigilance, an unseen foe lurks within, and with noiseless tread, at the midnight hour, enters the chamber of the sleeper, and life is extinct. Be ready, O man! The Son of Man may come at any hour, in any place, by any agency, along any one of a thousand unseen avenues. (Homiletic Review.)
