Such a joint examination as this produces a very keen sense of the evil and guilt of sin. When the soul is shut up with the Holy One of Israel there are great searchings of heart. Another effect is to render our views discriminating. Objects are seen in their true proportions and meanings. II. THERE IS FORGIVENESS WITH GOD. We deduce the following practical directions. 1.
