Revelation 19:11-16 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat on him was called Faithful and True… I. Christ, in His mediatorial character, has a crown of SUPREME DIGNITY. II. Christ, as Mediator, has a crown of VICTORY. III. Jesus, as Mediator, has a crown of SOVEREIGN POWER. Unto Him is given all power in heaven and upon earth: as far as the bounds of creation reach, so far does His dominion reach. IV. Christ, as Mediator, has a crown of SOVEREIGN RIGHT. He has not only the power to compel, but the right to demand the obedience of every creature; and it is the great distinction between those who are and those who are not His people, that while all the creatures of God, whether willingly or unwillingly, must execute Christ's pleasure, those who are indeed His submit joyfully and heartily to His rule, and keep themselves ready to do or suffer whatever He requires of them, simply because He requires it. V. Jesus, as Mediator, has a crown of JUDICIAL AUTHORITY: "The Father Himself judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment to the Son," etc. (Wm. Ramsay.) Parallel Verses KJV: And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. |
