Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus you who sometimes were far off are made near by the blood of Christ. The one gospel of God to the whole world, is that dark and distant spirits can not only be brought nigh, but "made nigh in the blood of Christ," as grafts are not simply brought nigh, but "made nigh" to the tree from which they are to derive their life. The graft is "made nigh," taken up into unity with the tree, by the life blood of the tree. Man is "made nigh," taken up into unity with God, by receiving the life blood of Jesus into his spirit. As the sun gives out of himself to the earth, and thus brings the earth into fellowship with himself, so Christ gives out of Himself to the human soul and makes man one with God. (John Pulsford.)
