When we consider the number, power, malice, and subtlety of his foes, it is wonderful that a Christian can expect a complete victory. 1. He has to wrestle. 2. He often has to walk in slippery places. 3. He is the subject of great weakness. 4. There are many obstacles in his path. II. THE PRESERVATION OF WHICH THE BELIEVER IS THE SUBJECT. 1. The power of God is engaged to keep His saints. 2. The promises of God abound with sacred engagements to this end. 3. The merit of the Redeemer's work and the virtue of His intercession avail on this behalf. 4. The indwelling of the Holy Spirit is an earnest of the inheritance. 5. Means of grace and dealings of Providence are subservient. III. THE FINAL PRESENTATION. 1. The solemnity and grandeur of the occasion. 2. The glorious condition of each of its objects. 3.
