Psalm 22:31 They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness to a people that shall be born, that he has done this. 1. Jesus complains that God had deserted Him. Bearing our sins caused this intolerable suffering. Yet even whilst thus suffering He adores the uprightness of God. 2. Jesus turns His thoughts back to the past history of the people of God. 3. The Father at length heard His earnest, importunate entreaties. 4. That which was in our Saviour's mind illustrates St. Paul's meaning when he tells of our Lord, that "for the joy set before Him He endured the Cross, despising the shame." (Alex. Irwin, M. A.). Parallel Verses KJV: They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this. |
