Luke 9:59-60 And he said to another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.… We are not to suppose, by this prohibition, that Christ disallows or disapproves of any civil office from one person to another, much less of a child to a parent, either living or dying i but He lets us know — 1. That no office of love and service to man must be preferred before our duty to God, to whom we owe our first and chief obedience. 2. That lawful and decent offices become sinful when they hinder greater duties. 3.
