A Psalm of Asaph, on the appointment of judges by Jehoshaphat. 1God presides over heaven’s court; He pronounces judgment on the heavenly beings. 2How long will you (earthly judges) judge unjustly, and show partiality that absolves the guilty? Selah. 3Render justice to the poor, the fatherless; the oppressed and destitute. 4Rescue the poor and needy; deliver them from the wicked. 5They neither know nor will they understand; they wander on in darkness, while all the foundations of the earth are shaken. 6I have said, “You are gods (judges in the province of God); and you are all children of the Most High.” 7But yet, you (earthly judges) shall die like all men, and fall like all other earthly rulers. 8Arise, O God (the true judge), judge the earth; for You own all nations.
