A Psalm commemorating the laying of the foundation of the second temple. 1Make a joyful noise unto God, all the earth. 2Sing of the honor, glory and magnificence of His name. 3Say unto God, “How awe-inspiring are You in Your deeds! The greatness of Your power shall cause Your enemies to cringe in obedience to You. 4Let all the earth worship You, and sing praises unto Your name. Selah. 5Come and see what God has done: He is awesome in all His actions toward the children of men. 6He turned the sea into dry land; they passed through seas and rivers on foot; there we did rejoice in Him. 7He rules by His power forever; His eyes observe the nations; do not let the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah. 8Oh, bless our God, all you people, and let the sound of praise of Him be heard, 9Who holds our soul in life, and does not allow our feet to slip. 10For You, O God, have tested us; You have refined us, as silver is refined. 11You brought us into the net (of Babylonian captivity and exile); You laid affliction upon us. 12You have let our enemies trample and defeat us; we went through fire and through water; but You brought us out into a place of abundance. 13I will come into Your house with burnt offerings; I will fulfill my vows to You, 14Vows which my lips have uttered, and my mouth has spoken when I was in trouble. 15I will offer unto You burnt sacrifices of fatlings, with the incense of rams; I will offer bullocks with goats. Selah. 16Come and hear, all you that fear God, and I will declare what He has done for my soul. 17I cried unto Him for help; and praised Him with my tongue. 18If I harbor and cherish evil and sin in my heart, the LORD will not hear me: 19But verily God has surely heard me; He has heeded my prayer. 20Blessed be God, Who has not rebuffed my prayer, nor withheld His mercy from me.
