A Psalm of David 1Do not worry about evildoers, nor envy those who do wrong. 2For like grass, or a green herb, for they shall soon be cut down. 3Trust in the LORD, and do good; then you shall live safely in the land, and prosper. 4Delight in the LORD; and He shall give you the desires of your heart. 5Commit your life to the LORD; trust in Him; and He shall reward your trust. 6And He shall make your righteousness, and your judgment, shine as the noonday. 7Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret about those whose wicked schemes seem to prosper. 8Refrain from anger and wrath; they can lead to doing evil. 9For evildoers shall perish; but those who wait upon the LORD shall inherit the earth. 10For in just a little while, the wicked shall be no more; you shall diligently search for them, they shall not be found. 11But the meek shall inherit the earth; and delight themselves in the abundance of peace and prosperity. 12The wicked plot against the just, and snarl at him like a vicious beast. 13The LORD laughs at him; for He sees that his day is coming. 14The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to oppress the poor and needy, and to kill those who are upright in their manner of life. 15But their sword shall pierce their own heart, and their bows shall be broken. 16Better is the little that a righteous man has than the wealth of many wicked. 17For the power of the wicked shall be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous. 18The LORD knows the days of the innocent; and their inheritance shall be forever. 19They shall not suffer in hard times; and in the days of famine, they shall have abundance. 20But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall vanish like flowers in the field. They shall go up in smoke, and be consumed. 21The wicked borrow, and never repay; but the righteous show compassion, and give. 22For those that are blessed by Him shall inherit the earth; and they who are cursed by Him shall perish. 23The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD; and he delights in His way. 24Though he may stumble, he shall not fall down; for the LORD upholds him with His hand. 25I have been young, and now I am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for food. 26He is always generous, lends freely; and his seed is blessed. 27Turn from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore. 28For the LORD loves justice, and does not abandon His saints; they are preserved forever, but the unjust shall be punished and their children shall perish. 29The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell in it forever. 30The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and justice. 31The law of his God is in his heart; guiding his steps. 32The wicked watch the righteous, looking for opportunity to kill him; 33But the LORD will not leave his righteous in their hand, nor let him be condemned when he is judged. 34Wait upon the LORD, and keep His way, and He shall exalt you to inherit the land. When the wicked are destroyed, you shall see it. 35I have seen the wicked and ruthless in great power, and spreading himself like a flourishing luxuriant tree. 36Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was gone; yea, I sought him, but he could not be found. 37Observe and consider the honest and upright; for a bright future awaits that man of peace. 38But the transgressors shall be destroyed; there is no bright future for them. 39But the salvation of the righteous comes from the LORD; He is their strength in the time of trouble. 40And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them; He shall rescue them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in Him.
