A Psalm of David 1The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? 2When my wicked enemies mounted their attack to kill me, they stumbled and fell. 3Though war should break out, and an army should deploy against me, I shall not fear; my confidence will be in You. 4One thing have I asked of the LORD, and is my fervent desire: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and meditate in His Temple. 5For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His sanctuary; He shall hide me in His secret shelter; He shall set me safely upon a rock. 6Then shall my head be lifted above my enemies around me. Therefore, I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; yes, I will sing praises unto the LORD. 7Hear my voice, when I cry, O LORD; be merciful, and answer me. 8When You said, “Seek My face”; my heart said to You, “I will seek Your face, LORD.” 9Do not hide Your face from me; nor turn away from Your servant in anger; You have been my help; do not leave nor forsake me, O God of my salvation. 10Though my father and my mother forsake me, yet the LORD will welcome me. 11Teach me Your way, O LORD, and lead me on a level path, safe from my enemies. 12Do not turn me over to my enemies; for witnesses make false accusations against me, breathing out cruel threats. 13I would have despaired, had I not believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. 14Wait upon the LORD; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the LORD.
